Maida Hill Market, W9

marketArising from an initiative by the Harrow Road Neighbourhood Partnership, the area surrounding the Prince of Wales junction – where Fernhead Road, Harrow Road, Walterton Road, Great Western Road and Elgin Avenue meet – will be rebranded Maida Hill. The area has actually been known as Maida Hill since 1810, and that’s how it’s referred to in maps.

As part of that initiative, Maida Hill Market is now open for businessmarket2 on the purpose built site at Maida Hill. The Market is open every  Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday offering a wide range of food and goods with cuisines from around the world and is proving to be a popular meeting place for the neighbourhood. The green and white striped canvas stalls are eye-catching and invite the passer-bye to stop and visit.

We, John Barclay Estate and Management do enjoy lunchs at Maida Hill Market and strongly recommend  everyone to stop by and try Paella, which is the best Paella ever tasted.

What is new in Maida Vale?

Posted on September 14th, 2009 in London by admin

maidavaleMaida Vale offers restaurants, pubs and shops with close transport links. It lies nestled between Paddington, St Johns Wood and Kilburn.

Maida Vale and Little Venice derive their names from Italy and have a picturesque canal with tree lined streets. The architecture is beautiful with white stuccos, red brick mansions and cobbled mews streets.

The Maida Vale postcode is W9 and is looked after by Westminster council. In the past, the area had attracted Sir John Ambrose Fleming, and the poet Robert Browning, amongst others.

Maida Vale and Little Venice are enchanting areas of London, this oasis of calm in the centre of the city is due in part to it’s close proximity to the canals of Little Venice, the impressive stucco villas lining the streets and the delightful range of independent shops in the area create a real ‘village’ atmosphere. Georgian shop fronts containing interiors specialists, delicatessens, delightful cafes and restaurants to refresh the visitor.
